Cloudways free trial, explained
Cloudways offers a time-limited free trial so you can provision a real server and test the platform before paying. Here's what it covers and what to check before you rely on it.
What the trial includes
During the trial window you can launch an actual server on your choice of provider (DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, AWS, or Google Cloud), install an app (WordPress, PHP, Magento, or others Cloudways supports), and use most platform features — staging, backups, team access — the same as a paid account, so it's a genuine test rather than a stripped-down demo.
What to verify before you start
- Trial length — this changes periodically; confirm the current duration on Cloudways' own sign-up page rather than trusting a fixed number here.
- Card requirement — whether a card is required upfront (vs. only at trial's end) has varied by promotion; check at the point of sign-up.
- What happens at expiry — typically your server is suspended (not instantly deleted) if you haven't added billing details, giving you a window to add payment or export your data.
Making the most of it
Use the trial to actually deploy your real site or a close copy of it — test migration, check Breeze cache settings (see our WordPress guide), and load-test if you can, rather than just clicking through the dashboard. That's the only way a trial tells you anything a marketing page can't.
